Every Big Island wedding requires a different level of planning. That's why we offer two full-service options based on where you're getting married.
Our Banyan Package is designed for private estates and independent venues where our team helps build your wedding from the ground up—including sourcing and coordinating the vendors and details needed to bring everything together.
Our Resort Banyan Package is designed for couples marrying at a full-service Big Island resort, where an onsite event team already manages many of the venue-related elements. We work alongside your resort team while coordinating the details and services that make your wedding uniquely yours.

CAN YOU HELP US FIND A BIG ISLAND WEDDING VENUE?
Absolutely. Because we live and work here on the Big Island, our venue knowledge extends beyond the locations you may find through a typical online search. We know the resorts, private estates and lesser-known venues along the Kona and Kohala coasts, as well as many of their requirements and preliminary costs.
Through our Fern Venue & Budget Consultation, we’ll learn about your guest count, priorities, style and budget, then recommend the venue options that realistically fit your celebration. We can also research availability for your preferred choices.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FULL-SERVICE WEDDING PLANNING AND WEDDING-DAY COORDINATION?
Full-service wedding planning begins long before the wedding day. We help with budgeting, venue and vendor recommendations, design, rentals, florals, timelines, logistics and the many decisions required to bring your celebration together.
Wedding-day coordination focuses primarily on executing plans that have already been made. We have found the greatest success when we help you plan and make each decision from the very beginning. Our Banyan packages include both planning and wedding-day coordination, giving you one experienced local team guiding the entire process, from the planning stages through your wedding day. There are so many things couples don't think of along the way, and we are here to avoid those blindspots and fill all the holes so the day flows seamlessly!
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PLANNING A RESORT WEDDING AND A PRIVATE-VENUE WEDDING?
At a full-service Big Island resort, an onsite event team typically handles many venue-related services, which may include catering, tables, chairs, linens and other resort-specific details. Our Resort Banyan planning works alongside that team while we coordinate the elements outside their scope and bring your overall vision together.
Private estates and independent venues generally require more sourcing and coordination because many of those services must be brought in separately. Our Banyan planning for these venues provides the additional planning needed to coordinate the vendors, rentals and details your venue does not provide.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE START PLANNING OUR BIG ISLAND WEDDING?
For most destination weddings, we recommend beginning the planning process as soon as you have a general date or timeframe in mind. Popular Big Island venues and experienced local wedding professionals can book well in advance, particularly during high-demand dates and seasons.
If your wedding is coming up sooner, don’t assume it’s too late. Depending on your date, guest count and flexibility, we may still be able to help you create a beautiful celebration. Twelve to nine months in advance is ideal, but we have worked to plan fabulous weddings in less time.
CAN YOU HELP WITH GUEST ACCOMMODATIONS AND ACTIVITIES?
We do not assist with booking accomodations or activities directly, but we’re always happy to share local recommendations for areas to stay, resorts, activities and experiences your guests may enjoy while visiting the Big Island. We have a Big Island Recommendation list of our favorite activities, beaches, tour companies, etc...
Because we live here, we can also help you understand the geography of the island so your guests aren’t unknowingly booking accommodations hours away from your wedding venue. We also have connections to full time concierge services, should you desire more activity and accomodation assistance.
WHAT IS REQUIRED TO GET LEGALLY MARRIED IN HAWAII?
Getting legally married in Hawaii is relatively simple. Couples begin by completing a marriage license application through the State of Hawaii and meeting with an authorized marriage license agent before the ceremony. Your ceremony must then be performed by a wedding officiant licensed by the State of Hawaii.
Big Island Officiant is included with our Banyan planning packages, and we’ll guide you through the marriage license process so you know what needs to be completed before your wedding day.
